Looking for a last-minute DIY gift, or a treat for yourself? This inviting cocoa recipe is like a giant hug of delicious, and even has some health benefits for your body.
That’s right folks, this hot chocolate mix recipe has dark chocolate (for circulation, antioxidants, and some heart health benefits); cinnamon (vitamins and minerals, lowers LDL cholesterol, and anti-infectious properties); nutmeg (brain boost, pain relief, reducing gas, liver and kidney tonic); and cayenne pepper (reduces mucus, anti-irritant properties, anti-fungal properties, digestive aid). What’s more, many of these ingredients help detox the body and reduce joint pain. So, how do you make it?
Mix the following:
1 t ground nutmeg
3 t ground cinnamon
1-2 shakes of cayenne pepper
3 c dark cocoa powder (70% or more)
Combine 1/2 c mix with 1 c hot water, almond milk, coconut milk, or cow’s milk, and enjoy. If you feel the need to add sweetness, try agave nectar. Refined sugar can negate some of the benefits of this mix.
