Including Acupuncture in Athletic Training

Runner compressedWe’re entering race season in Nashville, which means it’s training time! Acupuncture is a popular part of training regimens for marathoners and other endurance athletes in Japan, and is valuable to add to your training routine, too. Acupuncture increases blood and oxygen flow, reduces the risk of injury, and helps heal injuries faster when they do occur. Tax Time Tension?

Ugh, it’s tax time again. For most of us, that means hours shuffling papers and squinting at a computer screen. When your brain feels fried, and your shoulders are knotted up, give us a call. We’ll work out the knots, and you can deduct the expense on next year’s taxes! 615-939-2787.

It’s not too late to purchase gift cards for your Valentine. There’s a cheesy line in there somewhere about Cupid’s arrow piercing their heart and an acupuncture needle…. We’ll let you write that in the card. 615-939-2787

Holy shiitake!

Holy shiitake!

Did you know a serving of shiitake mushrooms has enough Vitamin D as a glass of milk? When we’re in the doldrums of winter, it’s important to make sure we get a lot of Vitamin D in our diet because we don’t get as much sunshine. Shiitake mushrooms are great in eggs (egg yolk is another great source of Vitamin D), pasta dishes, stir fry, soup, and much more. We like to slice, sautee with onion and kale, and serve with thin cut pork chops.

World Cancer Day

By now, must of us know at least one person who has been diagnosed with cancer, and have perhaps even lost people to the disease in one of its various manifestations. Today, on World Cancer Day, let’s join together to debunk some of the myths surrounding cancer. To learn more, visit

There are things we can do to help reduce our personal risk of cancer. If you or someone you love are living with cancer, acupuncture is not a cure, but it can help lessen some of the side effects of treatment. If Affinity Acupuncture can support you on your journey, we are honored to be of service.

Today, let’s take care of our bodies. Let’s move past some of the misinformation that’s out there. Let’s tell the people we love that we care. Let’s thank the surgeons, nurses, PAs, and CAM practitioners, and others working to improve the lives of those living with cancer. Let’s take the actions that we can, and not be passive in the fight against cancer.
